Merry Christmas from Hong Kong

Merry Christmas my loves! This Christmas is a really strange one for me because I am away from home. That is actually not the first time as I spent Christmas 2007 in the US. The difference is though that I was staying with the loving Anderson family so that I still had a family Christmas. This year it is going to be a bunch of us left behind in a very empty Hong Kong trying to pull together a celebration and keeping up tradition.

Right now I feel like bundling up on the couch doing nothing as those past two weeks have been exhausting with all the pre-Christmas events, planning my trip to Shanghai plus my insane birthday weekend. I can't help myself and think that must be how moms feel. They are tired as hell coming home from the office on the 24th having to pull this huge feast out of the hat and create a cozy, festive atmosphere for the entire family. I mean, who else is going to do it?

This year I will have to do just the same. We fortunately got off work at 12:30 at my office today so that I now have a little time to prepare. My German friends and I are planning a traditional Christmas Eve as we know it from home - with a three course dinner, Christmas tree, gifts, Christmas carols, Stollen, Spekulatius, midnight service...but maybe we'll throw some Hong Kong in there and go out for a drink after;)

I am my own family this year and if I don't create something, nothing's going to happen. I am not homesick at all but it's just more easy if you have a place where you can go without question. But I am sure my friends and I will have a very special Christmas Eve that we will never forget. Christmas in Hong Kong - maybe a once in a lifetime thing.

My outfit feels very Christmassy to me as it has the traditional Christmas colors green and red in it, plus has a British touch through the check pattern and woolen skirt. I could picture myself in an ancient castle with heavy furniture, a fireplace and a huge Christmas tree that goes up to the ceiling. But our little Charlie Brown Christmas tree will do too;)

I am sending all my love out to my friends and family around the world - to Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Spain, Brazil, France, Russia, Australia, India, Hong Kong...Have a wonderful time!

  2. Das ist bestimmt eine interessante Erfahrung, Weihnachten so weit weg zu verbringen.

Dein Outfit ist super schön, ebenso wie die Bilder.

    Viele Grüße
