Hello loves, in case you are not a rich heir or won the lottery, you probably have a budget you need to live on. Even though this budget might have a tight limit, you can still look expensive with a few tricks and investing in the right pieces.
1. "Basic" Bags
Have a range of good quality bags in neutral colours such as black, nude, white. Try to go for timeless designs and you will wear them for years and years while making any outfit look more expensive. I like golden accessories that match my jewelry and in my opinion look more expensive too.
When in doubt, go for a monochrome look - for example all white. That always looks crisp and elegant. And white is not only for summer, no, you can also sport in winter. But also other colours are possible like grey, beige or even red shades.
3. Textured Coats
Coats are one of the most important pieces in a wardrobe for me. You should really have a good range here of basic tones and some statement colours. A good coat doesn't need to be expensive tough. Just take one that has some kind of structure - a bouclé or harry for example. Throwing that one over will make any look seem expensive.
4. Tailored Pants
I've been wearing jeans all my life when it came to pants but recently I discovered the tailored pants for me. I really love them because the create a more adult look and, hey, make you look expensive. It can be tricky to find the perfect fit and maybe you won't find it at all. That's where a tailor should come in. I usually have to have my pants shortened and made smaller at the waist.
Layering done right makes you look expensive immediately. Creating different levels and combining textures will give your outfit so much depth and makes it look interesting. Here are some long tops that are ideal as a base layer.
6. Add Sunglasses
This sounds like such a cheap trick but adding sunglasses to your outfit can make it look more stylish and expensive in an instant. Find the shape that fits your face and go for it. I prefer round and cat-eye shapes at the moment and like my range of black, brown and rosé ones.
My favorite piece of the season - the turtleneck! I wear them all the time lately and I think they make you look more sophisticated and expensive no matter how you combine them. Have light ones to wear under dresses and cardigans and heavy knit ones for a cozy stand alone look.
8. Black Pointed Shoes
Shoe trends change every few seasons - sometimes caps are round, sometimes pointed. You need to adjust constantly if you want to play the game of fashion. At the moment pointed shoes are the thing and I prefer black ones for an expensive look. You should have one pair of flats, one of boots and one of high heels in your collection.
9. Skirt Length
I've always been a skirt girl. When I was younger I wore short short ones which was okay but lately I don't feel comfortable in them anymore. I like to go for a knee or midi length. This will make you look more grown-up and you might even be taken more seriously. Always have a few basic pencil skirts at hand to combine with your favorite tops and sweaters.
10. Add a Hat
Not everyone has a hat face but if you do, don't be afraid to wear them. Hats can make simple outfits look so stylish and expensive. Both in summer and in winter you will see me wear hats all the time. From straw to fedora hat - I own quite a collection.
